The story is compelling and the beautiful art of Juan Cavia will get you hooked from the beginning. I could totally feel the mood, the emotions, the movement of every scene just by his drawings.

This book is fabulous.

It’s not ‘literature’ but it moved me kind of in the same way that Evelyn Hugo did, in the sense that it’s pacy and engaging but it has more to say than a romp like Heartstopper.

It’s about success, and what success means, envy, competitiveness, selfishness, love, sabotage, exploitation, and regret. There’s a huge sense of the difference between happiness and success.

It made me cry, I really enjoyed it. It’s just a really good story, and the art (especially the sex and drug induced art) is very original and cool. I think this pushed the limits (in the graphic novels I’ve read so far) of what a graphic novel can do, partly just by being a graphic novel clearly for adults, and partly by having the art be a reflection of the character’s experience rather than just a camera lens showing the literal scene

This is a story that made me think about the meaning of making music and the price of talent and fame.

As an amateur pianist myself, I think It’s important to take time to reflect on why I play, or else I find that I lose motivation. This book really helped with that.
