thank you so much katie for sending me an ARC!! i'm so proud of you and everything you have acccomplished and will in the future!! <3

KATIE DID IT AGAIN!! she made me cry uncontrollably, laugh my ass of at the humor, and sweat (!!!!) from the spicy scenes, dear lord. this was *much* spicier than book 1, and was not a slow burn so we got into it quickly and i was so here for it. piper and leo were everything to me. their banter was HOT and they are truly the embodiment of opposites attract and complete each other so well.

this book was THICK, like over 500 pages, but katie does such a great job at writing in a way that never made me feel like the story was dragging on or taking forever to get somewhere. from the jump i was immersed in the story, and the overall plot was so engaging and felt like it came about in the perfect timeline, if that makes sense.

katie incorporated heavy topics in this one just like book 1, and she did so with such love and care. i feel like katie is one of those contemporary romance authors who can truly make you feel seen, regardless of who you are, through the complex characters she writes, which is why she will forever be one of my favorites. her debut novel was absolutely fantastic, and her sophomore novel was just as great, if not better.

outside of loving piper and leo & all the hard topics katie tackled with love and care, i truly loved all the side characters (sam!! i'm most definitely talking about sam!!) and i LOVED getting even more of piper's siblings and walker&talia moments. when i tell you i was kicking my feet every time colin was on page, i'm NOT lying. since finding out his book is next, i've been on the edge of my seat, and seeing him and scarlett very minorly interacting in TOWH had me giggling. at this point, i THINK i have all the future couples narrowed down - after discussing in great length with my mother lol - and i cannot even express how excited i am to read their books!!

The ones we fight for might have been my top 2023 read. I’m just so happy Katie came back with another book!!! Can’t wait to read more!!!!

I typically stay away from college romance because it can often feel so immature. Piper and Leo felt their age to me with the angst but lacking the drama and immaturity! I love them and their supporting cast of friends and family 💛

If you’ve talked to me over the past 6m chances are you’ve had to listen to me talk endless about why you need to read this book! I’m not even a little bit sorry about it. The entire time I was reading book one I kept thinking about how I couldnt wait for pipers book and TOWH didn’t disappoint. She’s such a relatable character and the way she deals with her grief and how she presents herself to the world felt like I was lookjjg into a mirror at times. Her clumsiness was also me and I love when I’m able to relate to characters, flaws and all it makes the experience of reading a book feel so much more profound and they stay with me for longer. Not going to lie what’s stayed with me quite a bit is the spice in this book😮‍💨 I’ve thought about Piper tell to “crawl” multiple times a week since I first read it and don’t even get me started on the orchestra pit scene 😭 iykyk. I’m always so impressed by Katie’s storytelling her characters always feel like king lost friends, family or little pieces of myself. Writing about grief is hard but the way Katie weaves it into her books is so beautiful and I’ll never stop screaming about how much I love these stories. I loved the dynamic between piper and Leo, the side characters were amazing and getting to see characters from book one make appearances was one of my favorite parts. I’m obsessed with the way she connects each story and it makes me so giddy to read each subsequent book.

Read if you love
-enemies to lovers
-banter (get ready because these two go at each other hard with the banter it’s the best)
-FMC in control during 🌶️ 🥵
-college romance
-found family
-grief rep
-crying during spicy scenes (kids of joking but not really😂)

Normally I like to tear through the books I read, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it with this one. I read it slowly, which I thought at first meant I didn’t love it as much as I expected to, but that wasn’t right.
It was beautiful and, though long, nothing felt unnecessary.
I laughed and I cried; I kicked my feet giggling at the sweet spots and blushed over the spicy ones.
Piper and Leo were such well developed characters and I loved the attention that was paid to all of their relationships in life, not just with each other.
