Wow, this was SUCH a touching book. Teenager Ro has carefully constructed her life with just enough truth (and slightly too many lies) to allow her to exist and get by - and to keep her mother safe.
Then one false step brings her world tumbling down ...
YA at its best - when it's not YA at all, but universal, relatable and intensely thought-provoking.

As a big fan of Williamson’s ‘All About Mia’, I was really looking forward to reading this book and I found they both had a similar feel in terms of character development and the emphasis on family dynamic . At first I struggled to get through the first few chapters (solely due to how depressing they were) but after returning to it after a few weeks I sped through it in 2 days. It was so satisfying to watch Tanvi and Ro’s relationship develop and the book was well paced. only important thing to note is that it is definitely for a slightly younger audience than I had expected due to the vagueness of the blurb - I’d say 12-16 year olds at the most. Overall a really enjoyable book with great characters.
Spoiler
the ending was also really satisfying and made it worth how upset I felt as a reader reading about Ro’s hoarding situation when Tanvi took Ro in.Graphic: Abandonment, Cancer, Toxic relationship, Death, Bullying, Mental illness, Vomit, Medical content, and Emotional abuse
Minor: Child death, Sexual assault, and Panic attacks/disorders
