700+ pages of Victorian melodrama and tragedy, but oh so addicting!

Pacing was incredibly uneven, the plot points had me rolling my eyes at times, and it was at least 200 pages too long. There were, however, some exciting parts that kept me turning pages, so it wasn't all bad.

Wonderful in so many ways! From the atmosphere to the language to the characters themselves, I loved every page. It has been a while since I cried while reading, but I teared up several times with this. Poor Seamie and Willa! I must read the sequel.

Now wasn't that ridiculous? Scandal, romance, crime, drugs, sex and seriously anything else you can possibly think of. And all those impossible coincidences that are just so convenient from the plot point of view. It asks you for some serious suspension of disbelief but in turn offers shameless entertainment. If you like stories about good girls who like bad guys (or you just like bad guys yourself) and you can stomach sentences like: "In the darkness, Frankie could only hear Sid's voice; he couldn't see his face. If he had, he'd have seen the pain there, deep and abiding, as he said, 'She's nobody, Frankie. No Relation. She's nothing to me at all.'" then give this book a go.

After reading the first book to this series, I knew that I wanted to read the second one, which was quite entertaining. This book focused on Sid and India, as they tried to share their love for one another, despite what was said about Sid amongst the town's folk. I really enjoyed reading about India's love for medicine, and how she went above and beyond to make sure her patients were treated with the utmost care. When India decided to branch out and start her own clinic, I applauded her courage, cheering her on as she went through all of the necessary hoops to start the clinic of her dreams. I despised Freddie, and was cringing for India when she made the decision that impacted her and Sid's life together, although India did it to benefit a certain individual whom she loved very much. I was happy with what Freddie got in the end, as I felt that he deserved it, considering what a horrible and disrespectful man he had become. In regards to Fiona and Joe, I enjoyed reading on how Joe pushed for Sid's innocence, despite not wanting Fiona to have any contact with him. In the end, the love that both Fiona and Joe had for one another shined, bringing forth a bond that many couples are unable to form throughout most of their married lives. When the author began speaking about Seamus and Willa's trek to Africa, I felt a tad bored, and wasn't too keen on reading about their adventures. All in all, this book was once again a page-turner in most senses however, it could have been shorter as I found it much too long, and there were some plotlines that could have been eliminated.
