I have to say, I really enjoyed this story! I liked the real life issues addressed in this story, and how tactfully they were handled. Gabby and Ethan had several hurdles to overcome, and I liked seeing how romance just snuck up on them over time. I loved seeing Gabby conquer her fears as well! Definitely interested in reading more of the series!

This is the first Rachel Lacey book I have read, and it was a sweet, pleasant surprise.

Ethan is a ladies man around town - but there was so much more to him than that. And in fact other than a lot of talk I didn't really find him to be a ladies man at all. He is sweet, compassionate, full of heart.

And on a side note, I did find it hard to see Ethan as a big hot manly alpha - but it had nothing to do with the writing or the character, but to do with the fact there used to be a teenage boy who worked with us for a while with the same name!

I adored Gabby from the get go. Out of a bad relationship she is trying to do it all for herself, all by herself. I loved her independence.

But the scene stealer for me is Ethan's Gram Dixie. I want to be her when I grow up! She is feisty and mouthy and just wonderful.

This is a quite, cute summer (or winter for me) read, and I can't wait to read the other two books in the series about Ethan's best friends.

Gabby Winters is trying to stand on her own two feet and in doing so has found herself in Haven. Gabby has been a bit of a recluse and her first real interaction with another is when she is rescued after landing in a yellow jackets nest. Ethan Hunter thinks Gabby is beautiful, even if she is looking a little bitten up and when he asks her out, she tells him no. Gabby finds Ethan attractive enough but she doesn't want the complication right now.

Neither Ethan or Gabby realize that Ethan's grandmother thinks they are together. Ethan will do anything for his grandmother even ask Gabby to pretend they are together. Gabby reluctantly agrees but the attraction between them continues to grow and Gabby is losing herself to a man who believes he can never commit to a relationship, despite how much he wants too.

This was a charming read. Loved Ethan's grandmother and was surprised by the plot twist, which I did not elude too. Gabby and Ethan together are wonderful, chemistry off the charts and you want this couple together. Loved the whole idea of this series and cannot wait for more. A perfect end of the summer read.

Another small-town romance? Gimme. Fake relationship? Eh. Not my favorite. In fact, I was super-stoked that Gabby said no at first when Ethan first proposed the plan. I get that the former Olympic swimmer wanted to make his dying grandmother happy, but that just doesn't seem like a great way to do it. But then, Gabby's abusive ex is in town so....
I did love that Gabby wanted to stand up for herself. Oh, and that she's a video game designer. Loved it. And Ethan is beyond romantic in letting her figure out their relationship steps. She sets boundaries and he sticks to them. Does this happen in other romance novels? Certainly. But I haven't gotten to read too many of them and we definitely need more out there.
There were some clunky parts of the story but overall it was a fast and fun read with a hero who was an alpha male but NOT an alphahole and thus a delight to read.
I hadn't read Rachel Lacey before (at least not in my memory or according to Goodreads) but I am very much looking forward to her next Risking It All novel. I think fans of Susan Mallery and Rachel Gibson should do the same.

A quick, sweet read!

Run to You is the first book in the Risking it All series after a prequel short story, [b:Rock with You|29905104|Rock with You (Risking It All, #0.5)|Rachel Lacey|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1463184083s/29905104.jpg|50278921]--though the couple from that one is in this story briefly, it's not necessary to have already read their book to enjoy this one. It takes place in the small town of Haven, North Carolina, where we are introduced to Ethan Hunter and his best friends and business partners, Ryan Blake and Mark Dalton, the soon-to-be owners of Off-the-Grid Adventures.

Ethan and Gabby, a software designer who has come to Haven looking for a temporary escape, have a horribly painful (for Gabby) meet cute, and feel an instant attraction. Neither of them are looking for a relationship, though--Ethan has major hangups in that arena thanks to a less-than-ideal parental experience, and Gabby is fresh out of a bad relationship with an abusive and controlling ex and wants zero romantic entanglements until she feels more confident in her ability to take control of her own life once again.

Fortunately for us, fate--and Ethan's grandmother--have other ideas!

Ethan and Gabby embroil themselves in a fake relationship--it's pretty standard stuff where the troupe is concerned--and of course it ends up leading to the real thing. Naturally it takes both of them a while to 1) realize what's going on and 2) actually admit it to each other--otherwise we wouldn't have much of a story, right? (One of them nearly waits until the last page of the last chapter--grrr--fortunately, there's an adorable epilogue added on to make up for that character's total and utter cluelessness. ;)

There are a few threads left hanging in the story--Gabby's parents' attitude about Ethan, for example--but it's hard to get too worked up about them. Basically this is a cute story peopled with interesting characters in a world I'm looking forward to visiting again and again. If you're looking for a light and sweet story with plenty of series potential, look no further!
