Definitely an important book, and definitely one that will sit with me for a long time. Will I likely recommend this to anyone? No. It’s a deeply triggering book, and definitely not one everyone should read. Still, a masterpiece.

Absolutely brilliant.

Although there was a lot of triggering things about this book and some horrifically graphic scenes, I still believe it is amazing.

It really makes you think about the characteristics of humanity and makes you question others and even yourself. It’s a broadening book with its interesting plot and sense of philosophy.

As always Junji Ito's art is amazing. The horror in this is kind of worse because it's more realistic. Though he has some panels with ghostly or creepy imagery that the main character imagines or hallucinates.

the unyassification of Joe Goldberg
and the Walmart version of Spiderman no way home had a fight

I didn't read the original, but do like other works of junji ito, so I guess I expected something else.
yozo came to be an adult in a bad way, but at some point along the way all sympathy for him is lost.
he just spirals into the same shit, which includes fucking someone, sucking on them titis every 5 pages, until that said someone dies and he moves on to his the next obsession.

yeah, I'm not supposed to like him. but I had the impression that the depression pit would be somewhat relatable.
he always blames the woman's he's with, and Jesus half the times he's right bc the dipuction of them is pretty horrendous.

the scene at the end where ito chose to make yozo and dazai meet was the Spiderman pointing at each other meme at its best, and 5th grader "what would you do if you could meet urself in 5 years" assiment at its worst.
