The book was atmospheric and I love the lake setting.
Apart from that, there was not much to love. The 3 main characters were not clearly defined with a specific voice, so I kept getting confused and also wasn't invested in their stories/sturggles at all.
I didn't like the magical/supernatural elements.
There were many scenes that felt pointless, didn't advance the plot, and it felt like it needed more editing. I was basically bored and confused.
I personally don't like to read about animal cruelty so it was another nope for me.

This book reminds me so much of an adult version of Dark and Shallow Lies, but with a much more solid ending.

I thought every character, of which there were more than I was anticipating, was well developed and their individual "lore" kept my attention throughout the book.

The ending was also phenomenal. I love some far-out personal growth AND we got a cute lil HEA.

The only drawback I have was with Catfish's storyline. I really wish her history was more involved so I had a chance to feel connected to her character in life, instead of just focusing on the tragic way she died. I can't get on board with the expectation that readers are just supposed to believe that great love/loss was the genesis for her whole story without being able to see really any of it.

I ended up DNFing this one due to the voices of the three POVs being too similar in how they were written. It was hard to differentiate between the three since they weren’t divided by chapters but were within in the same chapter with just a break.

This will definitely work for someone else because it drew me in besides that but it wasn’t working for me

I was 100 pages in and... this book could've used some major polishing. There's good stuff in there! I just think the style needed some major polishing since it was difficult to keep track of each protagonist, since their "voice" was the same throughout
