I think I have found my new favorite series, and I haven’t been able to say that for almost 10 years.

This novel encompasses perfectly flawed and realistic characters, with heartbreaking backstories and motivations. Everyone just felt so real.

The plot is always moving forward with more information that ties together neatly with past storylines and I was never bored reading this. There was no time to be bored! There was always another discovery, another betrayal, another obstacle.

This was truly one of my favorite things I have read in my entire life. If they don’t turn this into a movie series, they have seriously underutilized this potential. The novel would translate fantastic onto the silver screen.

Please. PLEASE. Read this.

Upon re-read: INCREDIBLE. Still manages to hold me on the edge of my seat even through a re-read. I still love everything about this book from the high stakes, to the mystery of the Krell, to the AI sidekick as well as Doomslug! 10/10. LOVE. THIS. BOOK.

I loved this book, I'm glad it's so highly recommended as I wouldn't have picked it up from the blurb alone (Sci fi isn't really my thing.) It's fun, fast paced and made me really interested in the answers Spensa sought.

Also if you'd have told me it had a talking ship I'd have assumed it'd be annoying but M-bot is probably my favourite character.

I will definitely be reading the sequel and would like to read some of the authors other work.
