Everything about the Crucible feels off, wrong, and shady. Not necessarily bad, but on the verge of an eerie, uncanny feeling. Lots of unlikable characters.

this book really made me think!! wow. especially from a modern day perspective, the salem witch trials are just SO interesting to read about and understand. despite this being a school book i wasn’t somehow turned off of it and hate it, and despite it being a classic & play in one, i literally got through it all in ONE DAY!!!! the social commentary on mass hysteria used as an allegory to the mccarthyism of it’s time… in awe.

Miller's 'modern' analysis of the Salem witch trials is certainly outdated in the eyes of post-modern audiences, however, it is still a great allegory for McCarthyism and has a good emphasis on the importance of speaking out against an oppressive regime
