I always feel guilty writing bad reviews but this was just... so bad. I’m keeping this short since I’m typing this on my phone but here we go. First of all, I got the impression it was a collection of short stories. It’s not. There’s 1/3 short stories and 2/3 excerpts from random published books? Those excerpts really made no sense to me whatsoever. You just get dumped in the middle of an existing book and try and figure out what the hell is going on.
Second, the few new short stories were not good. I did not really like any of them? Most were about 15-year-olds which I don’t identify with anymore and I try to read books with older protagonists. So bummer. But besides the young main characters I just didn’t like the stories? The only one I felt okay about was about the transgender girl, Dan turning into Danni. So, in the end, I only read the short stories and skipped the excerpts but in the end I also decided to skip over some of the short stories because after reading like 5 pages I still didn’t like them. So it’s a DNF for me but I marked it as finished to write this review.

Like most people, a little disappointed that this book included so many extracts from others as it wasn't apparent from the blurb/cover, though I did enjoy re-reading those I'd loved. A little hit and miss at times; some of the short stories were excellent (James Dawson's The Unicorn comes immediately to mind), some were a struggle to get through.

I just found it really boring and I was also having a slight identity crisis so I didn’t feel like reading thins kind of book

I really enjoyed this anthology. I knew quite a few of the authors, and there was a wide range of genres including SCI-fi, historical and general ya romance. The book contains quite a few excerpts from books, and they outnumber the original short stories, which I found slightly disappointing, although it might introduce you to some new books to read. I recognised or had read a lot of the books the excerpts came from. A nice reminder of past books, books yet to be read, and love in general.

I only finished the short stories after I realised most of the stories were book extracts 🤧

This book was quite a disappointment. Was really looking forward to some new short stories by some of my favourite authors and was not pleasantly surprised to find that half the "stories" in this book were extracts from novels, novels I have already read. I feel a bit ripped off. The only thing that made this a 2 star book and not a 1 star was the story by Laura Dockrill which I thought was amazing and David Levithan's contribution.

I didn't actually know it was a compilation book of new short stories and existing books, had i have known this i probably wouldn't have picked it up. I skipped a lot of the excerpts of books because either I had read them before or they were books I wanted to read and didn't want to 'spoil' by partially starting them.
I loooooved Juno Dawsons story though, total highlight for me
