This book covers the enraging and shameful history of gynecology in relation to the women who suffered for its advance: enslaved black women and immigrant women. The atrocities that occurred were torturous and steeped in heavy racism and misogyny. Very detailed, informative, and often difficult to read due to the subject matter and how angering it is.

My only criticism is that several of the quotes and anecdotes are repeated several times in their entirety, rather than just referencing the prior passage. Otherwise a very informative and important work. Brace yourself for some rough reading.
