A lot of hype… a lot of characters… not sure where I’m left after the end

Four smart women (two mother-daughter teams) own a bookshop and tea shop in a small town in the Scottish Highlands, and manage to solve a murder in their spare time. Lots of threads to this story, some a bit far-fetched, but it’s still an enjoyable read with a few surprises.

I wanted to like this far more than I managed. I made it about forty pages before I just gave up. 3 ⭐

Really wanted to like it. Loved the idea for the story. But way too much dialogue and the main characters kept changing personalities. Confusing.

I liked the idea of this book- Scotland, a bookshop, mystery. But it was really weird and disjointed. There were too many characters thrown in right away and they weren’t developed enough. I had trouble remembering who everyone was. The pacing was weird and dragged along. It didn’t seem like there were even any actual clues. So many odd things. Then all of a sudden, the mystery is solved! Like they skipped over action in the climax of the story. Just so strange. It reads like someone’s first attempt at writing a mystery. I liked the Rab character and the little old knitting grandma, but that was it. Don’t waste your time on this one.
