This was pretty good. I wasn't convinced for over half of this book that Hillier would be able to pull it out the bag and make this book great but the last 5% saved it. One scene in particular had my jaw drop and may have been the only moment this book truly shocked me. It certainly shocked the person on the receiving end.

The scenes between Ethan and Tao fell slightly short for me after the *spoiler*. It wasn't particularly gripping or thrilling or put me on the edge. I was more concerned about Morris' opinion of Tao than whether anything "bad" would happen to her.

Jerry and Morris are the real MVP's of this book in my eyes. The banter and Morris becoming a little wannabe P.I. just to find his answers was fab. I want more of it in the next book.

"IF HE CAN'T HAVE HER . . .
Dr. Sheila Tao is a professor of psychology, an expert in human behavior with her own hidden past. But she's not the only one keeping secrets. . . . When Sheila began an affair with her sexy graduate assistant Ethan Wolfe, she knew she was playing with fire. Consumed by lust when they were together, she was riddled with guilt when they were apart. Now she's finally engaged to a good man, and it's time to end the dangerous liaison. But Ethan has something different in mind. He intends to make her pay for rejecting him.
. . . NO ONE CAN.
As Sheila attempts to counter Ethan's increasingly threatening moves, he schemes to reveal her darkest, most intimate secrets by destroying her prestigious career . . . and then her. Caught in a terrifying cat-and-mouse game, Sheila must fight for her life and free herself from the ex-lover whom she couldn't resist--who is now the manipulative monster who won't let her go." (From Amazon)

A good psychological thriller but a bit too predictable.

Good read but the twist seemed pretty obvious at about half way through. She basically has a character tell you straight up! Very graphic. Still curious about the sequel!

This was a quick "beach read" about a professor of psychology who has an affair with a student. However, the student is a psychopath who doesn't want Dr. Tao to end the affair. Very fast-paced and a well written psychological thriller. I'm excited to read her follow up book, Freak.

Mehhhhh… I don’t love this. The ultimate twist is really good but everything on either side of it was pretty dull and dragged on. This felt soooo much longer than it actually was, none of the characters were likable even though I think they were supposed to be, and the sex addiction subplot felt very contrived and overdone.
