I put this on my to read list a long long time ago and so had no idea about its premise going in, so when the first monster appeared it was a fun surprise! This is much weirder sci fi than most teen books and I really liked the depiction of realizing your "close friendship" with a girl is actually a crush (wish this happened way earlier for me but I'm very good at being oblivious to myself). Many points for commitment to weirdness.

Claire is sent to a small town in Texas for the summer to take care of her sick grandmother, a town that holds many secrets, including monsters, timelines, and family feuds.

I almost DNF-ed this book a couple of times because it's a bit boring. The lesbian relationship is the only thing that kept me going.

I had fun, nothing to write home about tho. Loved the tricks with memory as I love sci fi that really messes with your head and I liked the twist that
the monsters turned out to be good guys that helped out in the end rather than being evil
but yeah. Fun time overall.

Loved the mysterious, amnesiac vibe of this novel, was a little disappointed by the dialogue-heavy reveals at the end (would have preferred to have things get worked out more organically through the action of the story). The love story is sweet!
