Everyday struggles of a middle class. Too long, too boring. Life is tough, we got it 200 pages ago.

It can seem weird but I can feel the pace of the story depending on the nationality of the author; the humour, the core of the story… In this case I can feel the dark humour of the author, Claudia Piñeiro, the slow paced story with a twisted humour of the characters based on the worst moments of Argentina’s economy.
This is the story of an exclusive neighborhood where three men appear dead in the swimming pool by one of the wives of the deceased. No one knows what really happened; were they killed or they committed a group suicide? Who would want to kill 3 rich men in their poker night?
Don’t expect a simple story, in this case the plot is as important as the background of the economical Argentinian problems. There was a sentence at the beginning of the story that shocked me but it explains how these families were living and how they lied to hide their problems, even with their best friends.
"I knew how to keep my clothes crease-free and how to leave the bedclothes scarcely rumpled. It wasn’t so much that the chores were a burden, but washing plates, making beds and ironing clothes reminded me of what I had once had, and lost."
This is an amazing read, it kept me turning pages to discover the truth and the end didn’t disappoint me at all, an open ending with a bitter aftertaste which left the readers hanging for more. A delightful story that I will recommend to any reader, exceptional and original, a must read.
