Such an interesting book.

Not only an interesting and compelling plot - but the story is also written from the perspective of an AI, in a culture that doesn't have strict definitions of gender. Everyone in the book is referred to as "she" in almost all cases. At first I found myself struggling semi-conciously to try to match a gender to the character to view them through, but overtime that started mattering less and less until it reached the point where gender really didn't matter for the story and the interactions. Really played with my perspective on things.

jaw was on the floor several times. smart writing and a thoroughly detailed world kept me hooked!

i liked the concept of the radchaai language having no gender but everyone being referred to as she/her. it was hard to visualize the characters at first, but i got used to it pretty quickly.

a must-read for any fan of space operas and sci-fi!

I do not understand what is going on. I think my teacher-exhausted brain can't compute.

I liked it more after reading the second book oddly. Spent too much time confused and the slow pace didn't help, but it picked up half way through

Over 100 pages it, set it down for months and have no desire to go back to it. I think it's a no for me which is sad because I've heard very good things
