An ok story; overly melodramatic at times.

A rewind of the beginning for Lovie's passion for the turtles and how she met and walked away from the true love of her life. It ties the 2 books together well.

Thank you to Goodreads, as I won this in one of their giveaways. Although, I did enjoy this, I enjoyed "The Beach House" more. It was interesting to get the back story of Lovie and if I hadn't read the Beach House, I would have rated this 4 stars.

At first I wasn't sure about the book, but after she hit the beach house I loved it. The descriptions of sea breezes, sand and ocean waves just brought me to the beach house. The story will make you think about "what would you do" and the ending may just have you with a tear in your eye.

After reading The Beach House, I was looking forward to reading this book for the back story. I read Swimming Lessons and missed The Beach House, but toward the end, Swimming Lessons really grew on me. So, I think I was enjoying that story and this…

Well, you know most of this story if you have read The Beach House, so there aren’t a lot of surprises in these 466 pages. I still enjoy Mary Alice Monroe and all of her loggerhead stories. This didn’t make me fall more in love with Lovie or any of the characters. I want to read the whole series, so it is what it is, but this wasn’t my favorite.

**Goodreads First Reads**

I was incredibly disappointed by "Beach House Memories". I chose it based on the turtles and I enjoyed that aspect of the book but the rest dragged on. The book starts off by telling you that Lovie fell in love with Russell Bennett and spent only one summer with him. Right off the bat there was really no chance of her leaving her husband or continuing her affair beyond the summer because the author chose to say so from the beginning. The book is basically just building up to the point of Lovie having her heart broken, knowing that would happen in some way just made the book seem to go on and on.

SpoilerNow, when it did finally end it felt so ridiculously rushed that it took me a moment to even realize that that was the ending. Russel is dead. The end.

This was my first experience with Mary Alice Monroe and it will probably be my last.

The book was alright. There were parts that just seemed so over the top, like when her lover and her were talking about how much they loved each other.
