2.8 !! Liked it but definitely didn’t love it. Got sucked into their love story very easily just like every other person but the main character jessica had no personality & everything was too cliche and predictable for my liking

This book was very hard to get through. I really enjoyed the first two books I read, however this one was very slow and I couldn’t seem to get into it as much as the others.
I feel as though the beginning was drawn out then was quickly wrapped up towards the end. I’m usually not the type to leave a book unfinished, but there were a few times during the book where I thought about quitting.

The story line of this book was so cute but I couldn’t stand the main guy character which made it super slow to get through

I've read 3 other books by Mia Sheridan; I loved Archer's Voice and Most of All You and Stinger was enjoyable, but I just can't get through this one. The prologue seemed promising, but to base an attraction on teenage love (not even teenagers of 15-16, but 11?) is just not very believable for me. It would've been if she created past-present chapters so we would've at least spent more time with their child selves and seen their connection grow, but one chapter (without a lot of conversations) is just not enough. Besides, after all these years there can be affection for sure, but I think it takes time to build up a relationship again, yet both are immediately infatuated. It's just too instalovey for me and most of all, insta-attraction. I read up until 35% then skimmed to the middle of the book and I just was not feeling what was happening at all. Skimmed a bit of the end and I knew that I would not like Callen any better by the end of the book or feel any kind of connection with Jessica.
It was even cringe to read. Mia Sheridan is very capable of writing emotional stories and creating chemistry between characters, but this felt like it was written by someone else.
