‘And then there were none ‘ is my all time favourite mystery, and I have been reading any book that has had closed mystery setting. This book’s synopsis intrigued me, I loved the steam punk setup, a monster huntress MC and a chatty sidekick, in the closed manor on a stormy night (cozy mystery anybody?). The book is pretty fast paced, well written with a good plot but fell short because of too many distraction from the plot. And it also kind of felt like a middle grade book at times with no young characters (except for that one page).
That said, I will definitely read the next book in the series as I’m looking forward to see the MCs next adventure.

Can't get past the writing style, too descriptive and sometimes contradicts itself.

There really wasn't much that I didn't like about it. It was such a great blend of fantasy and steampunk and murder mystery. The humor stuck and the world building was detailed but not info-dumpy. I loved the funky cast of characters written here too. My only complaint is there is a moment in the final quarter of the book that felt a little messy. But it recovered from that so quickly and I loved how it all wrapped up afterwards. This was just such a fun read and I can't wait to read the next 2 books in the series.

An amazing mystery set in a fantasy world! I can see why it won the SPFBO award
