This had all the elements I love about Connelly books -- characters I care about, a plot I didn't foresee, and very, very accurate depictions of lawyers and courtrooms. Well done, as usual.

Another entertaining entry in the Lincoln Lawyer series. This one is a bit darker than most and, uncharacteristically, there's not really a big twist at the end like I've come to expect with Connelly.

Michael Connelly is a master of gritty, dark police procedurals from both the legal defense perspective in Mickey Haller Lincoln Lawyer stories and in the police detective side with Harry Bosch. Connelly doesn’t go for the easy writing and weaves complexity into his books. This one started a little slower but finished exceptionally strong. 4 stars.

I don't know if it was because I listened to the audiobook but this one seemed to drag on and on. Lots of legal mumbo jumbo without a lot of payoff. And the side story of the estrangement with his daughter was lackluster. I hope the next one is Harry and I will be reading it to myself thankyouverymuch.
Also, I cannot be the only one who realized he would have an ankle gun. C'mon now. Saw that coming a mile away.
