A bit dark but gripping

So you know those prison books where it turns out the inmate was framed and didn’t do anything wrong? Yeah, this is not that book.

I’m actually pretty impressed that the authors got me to root for the unlikely pairing of an 18-year-old hacker in over his head and a vicious serial killer (who, okay, maybe isn’t AS bad as you might think). I wouldn’t exactly call their relationship healthy, but hey, it works for them, and it was pretty darn hot to boot. I enjoyed it enough that I’ll be checking out other books by them.

Unfortunately this did not work out for me at all. The romance was fine, I absolutely adored the possessiveness. The first half of the prison drama was also absolutely marvelous. My problem? How they became crusaders, and BuzzFeed. I really don't understand how Buzzfeed was the ultimate journalistic choice in this, but it annoyed tf out of me.

Also, the most interesting parts of the book were rushed. We didn't get much in terms of the Familia and why they wanted him, the whole Buzzfeed debacle was shoved to the side and the crusade ended by an NDA, and his activities in Guadalajara. I spent the entirety of the last few pages annoyed at myself for reading this, but I did love the HEA; just not what happened leading up to that point.

Also, what happened to the other boys who were being crusaded for?

What the hell did I just read, and what does it say about me that I really liked it?

I thought, very mistakenly, that this was going to be the cute young ingenue hacker meeting the scary, misunderstood and falsely imprisoned bad boy. NOPE. This is definitely darker than that, and I still just didn't care. Oh well.

The Serial Killer aspect wasn't very developped except for telling us he is a dangerous man. We never really got his backstory except a small bit at the end but then they went back to how much they love each other so yeah not very in depth :')

I think the worst part about this book is Buzzfeed News being used as a news outlet. The resolution went a little fast and it's not the most realistic but I can get past it since it deals with hacking and eveything. But having buzzfeed is pushing it a little far. The fact that it leads to nothing and we get no updates really isn't helping😅

Unexpectedly Beautiful

I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but this book was beautifully amazing. Morally gray characters are totally my jam, and I loved how the authors made me love these characters.
