I did not think this book was nearly long enough. I wanted more! I have been wanting to read it for a couple of months now, but have been having major kindle issues, with multiple kindles. It was like something was trying to prevent me from enjoying a sweet story. Anyway, I liked the characters and wanted to know more about each one. The fact that this is based on real events makes it even more endearing. It was a quick read and well worth my time. Possible spoiler coming up - I sure hope the real life couple lives happily ever after, because (in my mind at least) Joss and Ben sure do.

Christmas in Chicago with Ben and Joss is the perfect holiday! Joss is new to town, a little shy and definitely not Ben's normal type. But there is something about her that he is attracted to. Could it be that she denies his advances? Taking the challenge, he is going to try and win her heart. From ferris wheels to accidents to learning to speak snake languages, this is a sweet an endearing story. Narrated by Sara K. Sheckells, the story is beautifully told and an enjoyable listen.

A super-sweet love story that will have your heart racing. Joss and Ben captured my heart. This author has a knack for love stories that make your heart flutter.
Joss has lived most of her life in Paupa New Guinea. After her mother's death, her family is back home (near Chicago) and they're all at turning points in their lives, deciding what they wish to do now. Joss has been substituting at an elementary school, and needs to decide if she wants to apply for a permanent position or return to the country and life that she really feels is home. Her friend convinces her to attend a singles party, where she meets Ben. She's attracted to him, but he appears to have quite the female fan-base, and that leaves Joss cold after her last boyfriend's betrayal. But Ben is adorably persistent. We get a little peek inside his head as he pursues the girl, determined to win her over. There is also a pigeon that shows up on Ben's roof that provides companionship (and possibly advice). There really is a lot to love about the story. The pictures are all painted vividly, the tender moments are perfectly captured, and the story makes me desire for more. I would love to see this expanded to further get to know the characters and see more of their courtship.
I received an advance copy for the purpose of review. This does not change my opinion of this piece.

Joss Palmateers has spent her life with her missionary parents in Papau New Guinea but when her sister returns to school the family heads back to the United States to be faced with a tragedy. As Joss attempts to put her life back together she begins teaching and meets Becky Montgomery and his family.

Ben Montgomery has always been a ladies man and has never faced rejection before so when Joss says no to a date with him he is stumped by her. When he learns that Joss is wanting to return to New Guinea he knows he needs to do whatever it takes to convince her to stay. With the help of a homing pigeon he figures he may have a shot.

I really enjoyed this book. I felt so bad Joss as she tried to deal with her loss in an environment that she truly was not comfortable in. As she became comfortable with Ben and his friends she learned more about her "new" home but it was still so different than how she grew up.

I liked the change in Ben and could totally understand Joss's hesitancy towards a relationship with him. I loved how dedicated he was towards proving Joss wrong.

Such a sweet romance!

I don’t know about you, but when the year is nearing it’s end, the temperatures drop and it’s time for your Christmas decorations to come out, I always feel like reading and listening to Romantic stories even more than normally. So when I saw the sign-up for the Audiobook Review Tour of ‘Paper Love’ I didn’t hesitate a moment and signed up. I couldn’t wait to start listening to this book.

In ‘Paper Love’ we meet Joss Palmateer. Joss lived for a long time with her family in Papua New Guinea. Now her mother is passed away and she is living with her father and sister in the US. And this takes some getting used too. With everything going on in her life, the last thing Joss needs, is falling love. But when she meets her friends Brother Ben Montgomery, Joss just can’t ignore the sparks that fly between them for long.

‘Paper Love’ is a nice and sweet story. It’s not very long, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but I definitely wouldn’t have minded to have more time with these characters. I especially loved Ben’s character. He was just so charming and fun. And I really loved the way he tried so hard in winning Joss’s heart.

Joss was kind of serious, and didn’t want to give in to Ben as easily. Which I understood completely. And it was really fun to read how they slowly got together more. ‘Paper Love’ was really a perfect read for this time of year.

Since I listened to this book as an audiobook I was glad to find out I enjoyed listening to Sara Sheckells. Her voice was nice and warm and it fitted this story perfectly. I usually need time to get used to narrators voices but with this one it just felt natural. Also the male voice Sara did was great. I hate it when narrators seem to try so hard to make their voice sound male. With Sara it just fitted.

Overall, ‘Paper Love’ was a really fun and charming book. And with a great narrator as Sara, this book made for a great audiobook I’d definitely recommend.

What made the experience of listening to Paper Love the most enjoyable?

Ms. Shekells was very easy to listen to. She had a soothing quality that made it very easy to listen to the story. Listening to the book during a hectic time of year, it's a welcome distraction

Who was your favorite character and why?

I can't say that I have a favorite character. They're all needed for this story.

Which character – as performed by Sara K. Sheckells – was your favorite?

Ms. Shekells does a great job of changing her tone when doing a male character. But if you are going to have a favorite character that she performs it would probably have to be Joss. If you've lost a parent, she's one that you can relate to. Although, I did not grow up in another country she did have me wanting to add that trip to my bucket list.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It's not a particular moment but being able to relate to a character because I know the loss of not one but two parents. Joss is someone a lot of people would be able to relate to. It was also sweet to watch her come out of her shell and let someone in.

Any additional comments?

The author has written a story that's sweet from beginning to end. It could be considered a holiday read but it's one that you could listen to at any time of year. Ms. Shekells makes it very easy to sit back and relax as you listen to her tell this author's tale.

Ms. Wynne does a great job of creating a champion for Joss and she just so happens to be related to Ben. She also is the voice of reason to Ben. Ms. Wynne has also created a character that doesn't talk but seems to be there for Ben as well. Her story will have you thinking about interactions you had with your siblings as you grew up. Plus how those interactions have changed as you get older.

What makes Ms. Shekells perfect for this story is that she is so easy to listen to. She doesn't have a harsh tone to her voice that could make it hard to concentrate. But I do have to apologize to both ladies. I tried to listen to this book while fighting a migraine. Do not attempt. It makes it hard to concentrate and sounds become amplified which do not make for an enjoyable experience. But what was nice that it didn't last forever and I got to enjoy the story in the end. This story lets you know that we still need to live life even when there are bumps in the road. It will be nice to listen to the book again - free of a nasty migraine headache.

I voluntarily reviewed an Audiobook copy of this book.

I enjoyed Sara K Sheckell’s narration of this book. Joss’ melancholy after the loss of a parent and her uncertainty about her future are well portrayed. Her ‘male’ voice is also well done.

The story has a fable-like quality about it with the use of homing pigeons and origami to aid in the story telling and teaching of lessons. It’s a sweet story with a bit of religion/faith peppered across some parts.

I found Ben to be the better rounded and ultimately more interesting of the two main characters. Joss’ naivety and her crisis of identity did not make her as interesting and I found her difficult to relate to.
