I loved Kellan McKnight's first book A Perfect Fit, but sadly I'm not the right reader for this book.

Strike 1: I have a difficult time with third person omniscient POV unless it's executed extremely smoothly. Not sure if it's used for the whole book, but every time the prologue hopped from Morgan to things Drew was thinking or feeling, it threw me.

Strike 2: All signs point towards Drew being a cheater. I can't forgive that (even for a closeted character), so it would be impossible for me to root for the second-chance romance to work out. If it turns out Drew didn't cheat, and the bombshell she dropped was a result of SA, that's also something I don't want to read about and aim to avoid in fiction.

Strike 3: While I don’t mind an addiction recovery storyline, anything painting opioid prescription pain medication in a negative light is a dealbreaker me. With the recent opioid hysteria falsely laying blame on prescription medication (despite pain patients being statistically unlikely to abuse their medication and the overwhelming majority of overdose deaths being caused by fentanyl-laced street drugs like heroin), chronic pain patients are struggling to get care. Many are driven to suicide because they're suffering and unable to get the only medication that gives them any quality of life. My partner is a chronic pain patient, so it's an issue near and dear to my heart.

These likely won't be an issue for many other readers. The writing itself is strong, so I do plan give book 2 a chance to see if it's a better fit for me. And I did think the cover was absolutely gorgeous.
