This book made me wish I wasn't literate.

The writing between the two characters seemed super unnatural, for the amount of exposition given in this book, I just don't think this was the right format to use for the entire thing. Also, it was icky.

Fast-paced, this book works like a police report of e-mail and message exchange. The format was the first thing that left an impression on me, making the whole plot feel much more impersonal.

What starts as a suspiciously innocent interaction (derived from the naïvety of one of the characters which can sometimes be almost irritating), soon turns into a twisted and dark tale that I couldn't have anticipated. While short, it still retains enough detail that allows the reader to have a vivid (too vivid) image of the events, even appealing to other senses. It's hard for me to find a piece of writing that makes my skin crawl, but this one did exactly that. As much as I found myself frustrated by the end of the book, with many questions unanswered, I think this is one of those cases that teaches you that you don't have to find the meaning behind everything.

The amount of hype around this book gives it certain expectations that it simply didn't meet for me. Decent read, but nothing special

This book absolutely disgusted me but that's what it was supposed to do.
I quite literally almost threw up whenever Agnes ate the rotted meat.
the first story was personally a little bit too grotesque for my taste however it is what it was setting out to do just not something I would read again. The other stories were way more my taste and I'm glad that I was able to "put the book in the freezer" and finish it the next day.

Note: I don't like giving star ratings as I dont really understand the system. Please forgive the lack of one.

"It's because the planet is a carnivore and just wants to be fed. People want that as well. People like to eat other people. I spent so many years forgetting I had teeth, too."

What an incredibly grotesque and horrifyingly beautiful piece of literature. The book explores a series of encounters between the two main characters. Each one is more disturbing and boundary breaking than the last. It's raw, unflinching and unapologetic. It forces the reader to directly engage with uncomfortable situations and questions.

The writing is not for the faint of heart, but for those willing to confront the true depths of human depravity. I cannot in good faith recommend this book to anyone, unless you thoroughly understand what you're getting into.

This could have been a 5 star story, if the characters had been better developed and if it didn't cut off so abruptly. I was left wanting, but getting nothing in return.
