Wow. Not AS BAD (read: disgusting, traumatizing) as the reviews made it seem but it was still a ride.

If you've listened to 'The Magnus Archives' the best way to summarize the story would be: the making of an avatar of the Corruption.

Sometimes when you have ideas, it's okay to leave them in your drafts.

This book is absolutely deranged and unhinged. I would not recommend if you have a weak stomach. It’s quick paced and an extremely interesting book in the worst way. The amount of times my mouth fell agape while reading is unbelievable.

Was super promising and intriguing and then it just ends.

promising concept but middling execution. ive read better no sleep stories.

god where to start.... it wasnt even that disturbing, ive read and seen worse. aside from the animal stuff (already hate it, why is that the be all end all of disturbing horror it's like the one trick yall got) theres honestly not that much. i was expecting more in terms of progression, both the story and things spiraling out of control. this story would have hit better for me if it was long form, as it is it's so short and things progress SO quickly it just feels almost silly at times. like..... theres uhauling and then there's this. the beginning emails are so contrived and awkward i almost DNFd at that point. the character progression of zoe makes no sense. forcing via contract someone to crush a salamander is ok, but getting a lil too attached to the tapeworm growing inside them (that you encouraged) is a bridge too far? ok lmao

overall just not effective from a horror nor a craft perspective for me.
