I really wanted to like this book but it was a DNF after 140~ pages. As mentioned by others, Garrett seems to have great connections but his writing lacks clarity and leaves much to be desired.

Another one of those "this would've been better as a podcast than a book" books that I found out about from a podcast (go figure). Garrett's voice is pleasant to read, so no complaints about the writing, it's just...I don't know exactly but something didn't hold my attention. Blame it on pandemic fatigue maybe, but it felt like it dragged.

Interesting and well researched, but it seemed like a huge missed opportunity to not talk about the whiteness of these prepped communities

Bradley Garrett goes in search of people building end of the world bunkers, meeting survivalists, conspiracy theorists and conmen. A mix of travelogue, investigative journalism and reflection on the state of the world and what we're most afraid of. Particularly engaging for those who like to explore unusual and off-limits places.

Really well researched and written. Some really intriguing finds in this book.

Reminds me of the movie The Divide mixed with the Fallout video games.

Also reiterates the fact I want to move to Switzerland.
