I don’t think I understood the point of this book. It’s tagged as a lighthearted romance, but it feels neither lighthearted nor romantic. The main character is going through a lot of emotional stuff but there’s not enough pages or character development to make you like her beyond the snobby/bratty  exterior she has throughout this book. She’s a young protagonist and it reads that way.
The main male character had an awful perspective and I hated the way he thought in this book. He was very judgemental of people, he was misogynistic, and self centred. He also didn’t have enough character development, though there was some. He was fatphobic to the end, but it didn’t stop him from sleeping with the friend of the girl he was actually interested in, despite not being attracted to her because she was bigger. His entire thought process for that plot point was frankly uncomfortable.
In the end, I don’t think I understood the intent in this book. It meandered a lot and couldn’t seem to settle on a theme. Whether family or romantic love, it tried for both and fell short.
