I wanted to know what to expect with this one since it follows Jonathon's story. He's a character we've been introduced to in the Royal Elite and Legacy of Gods series. In the Royal Elite series, he is a foreboding man who always tends to get his way. Especially in the first four books, we see that terrifying personality shine since those books are about his son and nephew, the heirs to the empire he built. But all of that really contradicts the super-loving grandfather he is to Glyndon in the Legacy of Gods series, so this book and the sequel build that gap of how we went from that man we first met to the grandfather he later becomes. But this one was for someone else. I enjoyed this book more than the sequel, and I loved Aurora. I just got a little too bored. Granted, I did like this one more than the next one. I like what it was building up, seeing the forced proximity stuff start and just meeting Aurora. I wanted a little more like Legacy of Gods or even Royal Elite. It just felt like we lost sight of why Aurora was even in this arrangement, to begin with, but again, most of my issues for this duology are more in book 2 than this one. I just had a hard time getting into this one.

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: hate to love, dark, age gap, alpha hero, billionaire, possessive hero, dead sister's husband

𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀: cliffhanger, murder, mental illness, panic attacks, death, blood

Who would have known that daddy Jonathan could be so hot??

Jonathan is cold, ruthless and possessive. Aurora just wants to get rid of her past, but she has to come out to save her business, without being seen by any of the men in the King family.

Unfortunately she was not successful because Jonathan sees her, and now that he knows about her, he must possess and break her. But our strong Aurora does not submit to him and fights against him, which makes Aurora the perfect person for Jonathan.

Both characters have strong personalities, but in order to have a stable relationship, they should leave the past in the past.

This book ends in a cliffhanger, and I am very ready to start the next one.

“Contrary to common belief, I’m not heartless. I’m relentless.”

Jonathan King is the father of Aiden King, and uncle of Levi King. Jonathan is a known businessman who is ruthless and pretty much does whatever he wants. Jonathan runs his business using people’s fears. Jonathan is also Alicia’s widow, who has been dead for the last 11 years.

Aurora Harper is a watch maker, who is trying to save her business. Aurora is Alicia’s younger sister, and 11 years ago, Aurora dropped for the face of the earth, but has to come back asking for help from Ethan Steel. However, Jonathan swoops in and Aurora is now stuck with Jonathan for the next 6 months.

Let’s face it, the best character is Layla - Aurora’s best friend. I really ended up loving Aurora’s character. Aurora had a bit more backbone than the girls from the royal elite series I think. Aurora definitely does now have the power in their relationship, but Aurora is better at negation, and working so that both of them win and lose something at the same time. I also think the storyline for Aurora is so interesting, and I am loving it! The thing that I feel was missed was that it could have been a bit darker.

Tropes:
 • Age gap (17)
 • Wife’s little sister
 • Widow
 • Toxic relationship

daddy? sorry. daddy? sorry. daddy?

Dominant. Cold. Addicting.
Jonathan King is the anti-hero in this read by Raina Kent. He is controlling over his dead wife’s sister once she enters their lives after eleven years. She really wasn’t apart of their lives except in the distance. This was a hard book to put down as are all of Rina Kent’s books for me. I cannot wait to jump into the next book. Hopefully their relationship isn’t as rushed as it felt through this one.
