Second time reading as the series is now finished, and I'm realizing why I loved this book to begin with. There's clear personalities with the guys, the MC is bad-ass due to working hard for it rather than being a special snowflake. I remember the next book disappointing me but I can't remember why.... Lets hope the good vibes continue.

I really enjoyed this reverse harem. Marcella, the main character, was strong but vulnerable. I liked her guys. All the characters had interesting powers. I look forward to getting to know each of them better, and seeing how their powers change and interact. The whole vampire/walker/shifter/etc. power variety was surprising but well done. The plot was good, and I look forward to the release of book two. 4 stars.

Stained Egos has an intriguing plot line with even more intriguing characters. This book is an enthralling read that creates a world that is amazing built.
Marcella's life is far from easy and will only get harder before she can have her brotherhood. This book will have you wanting more!

I got this book free from kindle. Man was it so very interesting. I typically don't like books that change perspective every chapter but this one made it work for them. I had to try and remembered who was talking but other than that it was great writing. I loved it!

This is a brilliant novel with well developed characters who come together in a cohesive world full of magic and intrigue. The plot flows along naturally and I particularly liked the dynamic between the boys, between the boys and Marcella, and between Marcella and her bullies. It made for a believable story within the confines of the world that Helen Scott created. I stayed up all night reading

2.5 The back and forth POV's took a bit to get used to with this kind of novel. The worldbuilding was frustrating, and it ends on a cliffhanger of sorts. The relationship feels a little forced and it's definitely a case of insta-attraction when they get close enough to her to be influenced.

While I was interested in the magic system, this book lacked a plot and had a few too many main characters to keep track of. The female MC is absurdly powerful but very sheltered and, of course, a virgin (insert eye roll of the century). Nothing new or special here, and the story line was odd and a little disjointed. It almost feels like a prequel novella.

I liked this book, I'm starting on the next one to see where it goes.

So, in this world, the police is made up of Brotherhoods, 5 dudes put together to be stronger. And once they reached a certain level of experience, I guess, they are allower to get a Sixth whom will bound their power in a circuit to make them stronger. Marcella is currently training to be a Sixth when the Maximus brotherhoods comes into the academy to get a Sixth.

Okay, so there are a lot of things that didn't really make sense. First of all, the brotherhood is falsely told they'll be able to chose their Sixth, and they know it's false. But the point of their long visit to the academy is to watch the girls fight and witness the tournament. So at the end, there is a winner. And that winner becomes the Sixth. And they know that. But they're told they're going to choose? I don't get it.

I could tell the brotherhood appart pretty quickly, which is good. But the characters feel very shallow for now. There are 4 other books so I'm giving the series more of a chance but I wasn't impressed by the world or the character building.

I was also disappoint that Cade got all of Marcella's firsts. He got the first kiss, first blood, first time and I fell like it makes the relationship she has with all he guys very imbalanced.

Yeh, I'm reading the second one hoping it sorts itself through

Stained Egos started off good, but then I just got really annoyed with the powerful brotherhood and how they didn't actually have any power. And the fact that they didn't call their master and tell him what was going on when it seemed he would have helped them because it would have benefited him. So, that was really annoying. And the rest just didn't seem to fit together well.

So, over all I didn't like this one. It just wasn't for me.
