Unique narrative style that holds its own. I thought there were a lot of interesting narrative techniques in this one that helped keep my interest when the story itself flagged or the history lesson got a bit too deep. Definitely something different and worth reading.

This is a book that guts you. I'm sitting here, next to the dinner that cost me $10, and all I really want to do is cry. I felt sad most of the time reading it, but it didn't really hit me until the last two pages. "The beauty! The beauty!" It's just so... this guy can write.

I could almost feel the heartbeat of the book murmuring in my hands.

One of the best books I've read in 2011.
