FIRST FIVE STAR READ OF THE YEAR and i think this might be my favorite read from thriller/mystery genre, the fucking writing style, the characters, the relationship between the sisters and the dad omfg i have wayyy to many emotions to write a full review so this is mostly rambling, this my first book by karin slaughter and she didn’t disappoint, her writing make it seem like they are real, real human beings experiencing this tragedy, i honestly might go cry after finishing this review

Read for Winterween 2022: book that gives you thrills and chills

I really did enjoy this book because ms. karin knows how to write. there were some parts that were slow and a bit more “boring” which is why it isn’t a full 5 star from me. i also never guess twists and i guessed one of them like halfway through so that hindered my enjoyment a little bit but the other twist had me by the THROAT

There were really graphic pieces in this story, please review content earnings before reading. My god, did she seem to add anything you could think would be a trigger in this book. But it wasnt the entire time, from about midway to the last half the story seemed to plateau and become about the sisters relationship. It felt like the Kelly Wilson story was side stepped and not an urgent thought anymore. I began running out of pages and thinking how in the hell will she wrap this up? And then she did but it felt too quick, almost rushed, like she was only allowed 500 pages from her editor or something.

All that aside I did enjoy the story especially the first half, if you're into mystery and are familiar with her work you will definitely enjoy. Still cautioning due to the graphic depictions of violence.
