Fast paced plot, short chapters and multiple points of view help flush out the characters.
Belmont has an amazing reputation - the best teachers, wealthy students who go on to become leaders, doctors, etc. Until people start dying.
During a teacher's ten year celebration, a student's mom drops dead.
Teddy - long time English teacher and Teacher of the Year recipient, accidently poisoned the wrong person. He meant to only cause Sonia - Mrs B, a revered teacher and former pupil of Belmont, some discomfort. During her ten year celebration. In front of the entire school and staff. No worries.
Zach, a wealthy yet loved by all his other teachers, can't seem to catch a break with Mr Crutcher, aka Teddy.
Fallon loathes Mr Crutcher - he ruined her life by sending in a letter of reference with her college applications accusing her of plagiarism, stating Fallon is clearly not capable of producing high quality work.
Belmont is beyond a hot mess as more death ensue, arrests and Teddy just getting it all wrong.
Great read.

Great! Great twist at the very end! Wished the epilogue was a little longer! Make sure to read epilogue for some answers!

I have not read as perfect as novel in a long while.  I loved the characters and the story. I was hooked from the first chapter.

Ah I love a book about a Prestigious School with rich bratty kids. You know the minute a minor wind blows they will go nuts. This is book was no exception, especially when the bodies started piling up T Bellstone Academy.
Lucky for them the Teacher of the Year, Teddy, takes his title seriously and he proves to be a very eccentric character. He thrived on glasses of white milk, a big no for me lol.

I loved the short characters, the multiple povs, involving many characters. Each character was highly developed.

The k you for the gifted copy

SO GOOD. I love a bad teacher, and I also love a school full of badly behaved rice people (students and parents alike). Teddy Crutcher is a menace!!!!

Great ending to this one as well. Truly love a book where you don't know who will die next.

We listened to the audiobook for this in one day on a long drive and really enjoyed it. The characters were so eccentric and it all just felt like it made sense. I thought the ending could have been a bit better, it felt somewhat rushed and out of place. But overall, enjoyable. Learned afterward that there will be a show based on this book and I am looking forward to watching.

2.5 rounded up

The book is more a YA book than anything else. The start is very promising and, despite the fact that Teddy is more and more annoying and despicable as the book progresses, a lot of things/remarks are funny and so the book continues to be enjoyable. However at one point everything becomes a bit repetitive and the entire situation is getting ridiculous. We have these smart individuals and they all use their intelligence to commit all sorts of crimes and, on the other hand, the police, including the FBI is utterly clueless and incompetent.

The ending was also a bit ridiculous. Not really my cup of tea.

This is 3.5 stars. I was loving the beginning, and I really enjoyed Teddy as a character and as a villain. He felt so fully realized. I also loved the education setting as someone who works in higher education and is married to someone who works in K12. There’s something so painfully relatable about this environment.

As the story went on, it didn’t focus on what I thought it was going to focus on - Teddy and Zach. It became larger, more POVs came in, and it sort of lost me. Especially when Fallon came on the scene, it was just one thing too many.

I loved the idea of the conclusion for Zach more than the execution of it. I needed a little more from him earlier for it to really hit.

I listened to the audiobook and WOW what a slow narrator. Also his voices for the women were eye rolly - they often sounded strident or whiny, had too much vocal fry, etc. It just rubbed me the wrong way!
