I spent the first 2/3 of the book wondering why so many people rated it 5 stars, but then spent the last 1/3 being very teary-eyed and feeling glad to have read it.

This book was a very quick read as it really held my attention. An interesting picture of mental health and the impact it can have on relationships, and despite being an unlikeable character, you still manage to root for Martha. Apparently the author doesn’t suffer from mental health issues, which shocked me.

This book very skilfully explores the topic of mental health and how mental health conditions affect not only the person diagnosed but those around them too.

There are moments of incredible sadness, humour and hope.

Whilst some might not find Martha likeable she was certainty relatable and I personally was always rooting for her and Patrick.

A difficult read due to the topics covered but I still struggled to put it down and would actively recommend it to others.
