I’m so in love with this world and these characters! Every. Single. One of them is so special to me.
Robbie takes over as the POV character in this emotional, rend-your-heart-in-two story of high stakes supernatural drama! I don’t want to tell any spoilers, but what happens to Robbie at the start of this novel is an emotionally devastating mindfuck. Also in this book - another loss for Team Human (Rico, you beautiful bastard, I’m so glad you’re still here.) An asexual werewolf! (KELLY, YOU ARE MY FAVORITE.) And Jessie gets a girlfriend! (“We really are the gayest pack that ever existed,” JSHSJVHHJC OH MY GOD I’M SCREAMING)
You’d think I’d be tired of the mating bond stuff after three books but I am HYPED for Carter and Gavin’s story. Bring it on TJ Klune. Gimme everything you’ve got.

This baby 😭 my heart broke so many times. For a character that had longed for family, for a place to belong, for so much of his life, to have that taken away from him is just gut wrenching. I love the character work done here, with Robbie, Kelly, and the rest of the pack. The trauma of being betrayed so many times would of course manifest itself, and it just makes everything so much sadder 😭 nothing quite hits like amnesia angst 😭😭😭😭
AND KELLY MY ACE KING 😍😍😍😍 I love love love love how his asexuality is handled through this. So well done. And I was rereading a section of Wolfsong, and I love how the groundwork was laid all along for him being ace; it was subtle but made it feel natural and not like an afterthought or last minute decision.
(Also Carter having a bi panic realization in the middle of a battle xjxkksbcdbsjsbs how very on brand 😂😂😂)

What the actual mind-fuck????!!
Just when I think this series can’t get any better TJ goes ahead and destroys me all over again.
I can’t tell you how goddamn confused I was at the beginning of this book or how much I enjoyed piecing everything together as it was happening. I was gasping in disbelief, squealing in horror and yelling “WHAT??!?!” at my computer screen while listening to the audiobook.
👓Robbie is so precious. I just want to protect him. He’s been a favourite character of mine since he showed up in book 1 so I was super excited delving into his story. He’s also my spirit animal because he likes romance novels.
👮♂️I appreciated the asexual representation that Kelly’s character brought to the story, and what it meant for him in his relationship with Robbie.
These two are the literal definition of romantic. I couldn’t stop smiling whenever they interacted. Kelly has always been so sensitive and Robbie is just the sweetest guy ever. They are just perfect.
It has to be mentioned that the role of ‘mothers’ (Elizabeth, Maggie & Beatrice) in this series, and this book in particular, is excellent. The devotion and protectiveness exhibited by these women is overwhelming. The role they play in this male-dominated series is very special.
Once again, this was expertly narrated by Kurt Graves. His clear distinction between characters through his use of accents, tone and pitch is deliberate and effective.
Hopefully this review was sufficiently vague enough for you because I don’t want to give anything away. I want everyone to have the incredible reading experience that I did with this book.
The experience I had reading this book for the first time is unlike any other reading experience I’ve ever had.
