Β
This third book in the series focuses on Kelly, brother to Joe and Carter, and Robbie who came to the pack by accident in Wolfsong. As much as I was interested in their romance because of the hints in the previous two books, this book did not work for me.Β

I'm just going to come right out and say it. I found this book extremly boring. As said I was interested in their romance and coming together. But that was skipped and Robbie and Kelly finding each other through the memory loss was not the same thing. I felt that I was missing a piece. It didn't help that we started with Robbie who remembered nothing of his pack and I wasn't sure if this was a history thing or a memory loss thing at first. Their romance towards each other was meh and I was not feeling the connection on the page.Β
I will also say that I feel it was a cop out to have him remember everything way at the end and not have him deal with the repurcusions of his own memories. He did that with the actual people it concerned, or rather they did with him. But actually having those memories back is a different thing and to me one of the most important things if you are going to give a character their memories back. It will still change things.Β

However I did appreciate how it was dealt with between Robbie, Rico, Chris and Tanner. Those three aren't just a hang on but an important part of the pack and they really got to shine in this book. As always I loved the pack dynamics. Even though it didn't quite work for me, there were still places that made me laugh out loud.Β

COOL COOL COOL NO DOUBT.

Read the smutty werewolf books, they said. It’ll be fun, they said. AND THEN WATCH EVERYTHING YOU LOVE SHATTER AND REPAIR ITSELF LIKE THIS IS COMPLETELY NORMAL EMOTIONAL ABUSE.

I can’t believe how unexpected this book was. What a stellar, exciting, emotional plot that moved the story forward in a natural way while also throwing in a fun and HEARTBREAKING twist. Sweet Jesus just when I think I know what to expect with these books.

I greatly admire a series that can continuously keep me on my toes without completely shifting the tone too drastically to throw the story off course. The CHARACTERS. the DRAMA. the EMOTIONS. the HUMOUR. Outstanding.Β

ROBBBBIIIIEEEEEE πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯ΊπŸ₯ΊπŸ₯ΊπŸ₯ΊπŸ₯Ί

This baby 😭 my heart broke so many times. For a character that had longed for family, for a place to belong, for so much of his life, to have that taken away from him is just gut wrenching. I love the character work done here, with Robbie, Kelly, and the rest of the pack. The trauma of being betrayed so many times would of course manifest itself, and it just makes everything so much sadder 😭 nothing quite hits like amnesia angst 😭😭😭😭

AND KELLY MY ACE KING 😍😍😍😍 I love love love love how his asexuality is handled through this. So well done. And I was rereading a section of Wolfsong, and I love how the groundwork was laid all along for him being ace; it was subtle but made it feel natural and not like an afterthought or last minute decision.

(Also Carter having a bi panic realization in the middle of a battle xjxkksbcdbsjsbs how very on brand πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚)Β
