I enjoyed this one but it wasn’t my favourite of the series. I enjoyed a further look at Morrin and his poly relationship. ( I enjoy reading poly stories so this part didn’t bother me at all). I thought the poly aspect of the story was handled well as each person had their own personality and the only thing I could say against it is that I would have liked a bit more to delve further into the relationship.

I liked the Princess and how strong she was, I just didn’t quite understand how Morrin didn’t see through the disguise himself and felt that once she was pointed out to him he was attracted very quickly without actually getting to know her. I did like the inclusion of her intersex character as I not sure I have read one before, so it was interesting to me,

Lovely short story that tells the story of how King Morrin's lovers find him a queen and that expands on the Unbreakable Soldiers setting.

Content warnings include: violence; mentions of: slut shaming, misogyny, abusive parents, human trafficking, suicide.

I liked Morrin and his group of friends, who are in an polyam relationship. The plot around them having found the perfect queen for him was lovely, and I liked how Morrin worked in getting to know her, and she herself was great as well.

There were frequent mentions of the characters and events of [b:The Painted Crown|30334489|The Painted Crown (Unbreakable Soldiers #2)|Megan Derr|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1464833703l/30334489._SY75_.jpg|50831542], which I adored! I also liked that there was an intersex character, and that Morrin's being aromantic was always respected as well as mentioned directly.

The aromantic representation was great, I only wish the book had been longer and there was more focus on Morrin and his future queen getting to know and like each other - as in, they got to know each other more slowly and gradually rather than the rather aprubt way it is in the book.
