I understand that people have reviewed this book poorly because witches derive their magic from the devil, but I found the twist to be so captivating. I enjoyed the messiness of it all and loved the growth of Teagan's and Bess's relationship. This was Braxton's first book and such a great introduction into the rest of her magical, witchy novels.

I liked much of the storytelling and enjoyed the stops in various time periods. However, the villain's motivation was flimsy and overwrought.

Worthwhile read for anyone who loves a book about powerful women. Stories from several eras woven into a lovely singular saga.

This is a very good book. A great mix of history, fantasy, romance. I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book. It was an easy read. It kept my attention from the beginning since it started with a witch in present day and then flipped back to that same witch in the 1600’s! All I kept thinking while reading was HOW? Time travel? Slow aging? Immortal? I needed to know the answer.

It was well written and full of amazing detail. I felt as though I was in the cottage with Teagan and Elizabeth, or in the woods, at the market.

I highly recommend this book.

This is a very nice read and the atmosphere is AMAZING. I swear to the Gods I loved the description of the places and especially Elizabeth's house and her works, the interior and IT'S SO PRETTY, I loved it!

The story is very well written and it captivates the reader, you just want to keep reading and reading to learn more about what happened and what will happen. The ending was not what I had predicted and I wish I'll be able to read the sequel as soon as possible because I am very interested in knowing what happens after the forest.

The main thing I seriously disliked about this book is
Spoilerhow she's a Witch from the 1620's
and immortal and she's been here learning about Witchcraft from ancient sources yet... She says she's a Wiccan and she has to teach the Wiccan traditions (going so far as to use the Wiccan Rede as resource (which was written by Doreen Valiente!)!! I'm sorry but as a Pagan and Witch this upsets me because Wicca is a neo-pagan religion which was founded around 1950s by Gerald Gardner. Any trustworthy pagan author will tell you this. Yes Wicca did have some influences which are older (not that many though, since mostly were from Thelema, Golden Dawn, Aleister Crowley, among others as you can see from the testimonials of Doreen Valiente and other Elder members of the Craft), although, they were not named Wicca. This actually upset me because it is, once again, perpetuating the idea that Wicca is a very ancient powerful and Celtic religion when, in fact, there is no historical records that support that claim.
. Aside from that the story is very well written and a great read, I really enjoyed it :)

Definitely one of my favorite reads for its dynamic storyline, complex characters, and heart-achy love story. I was completely engrossed in this book from the first couple of chapters, falling in love with each character and rooting them on as they looked to new challenges. After I read this book, I was completely hooked on reading witchy-fiction!
