I was really sad that the book ended when it did. I wanted to know more about the characters' lives. But I do get the intention of having everything be encapsulated in one night like that.

I enjoyed this book until it abruptly ended. Literally refreshed my kindle twice to make sure there wasn’t a glitch. Other than that, I enjoyed the writing. It was sometimes hard to switch between the alternating chapters, but I appreciated seeing the perspective of each main character. Worth reading but expect the ending. 3.5 stars

This book is a great intro to racism in youth. The points of view bring light to subjects surrounding racism in communities.

Great book. Wish the dialogue of the black characters weren't so blatantly stereotypical. It sounded like they wanted the black characters to sound like they were from the 70's and 80's. There was an overuse of slang language to sound "hip" and "relevant" and to make sure the readers knew the characters were black. As if all black people speak like that. It was off putting.

I absolutely blew through this on audio. I grabbed the book at a little free library and wow, I am glad I did. This was pretty hard to listen to, but I really loved the story and the characters. What an interesting a reflective look on the way two people’s paths can cross at the wrong time, making a small thing right.
