To be honest, I loved the first Anne book. After that, I only really cared whether or not she was going to hook up with Gilbert. Basically all the following books didn't hold my interest as well.

My kids have really enjoyed listening to this entire series in the car over the course of this year. I was not an Anne of Green Gables fan as a kid, but the flowery descriptions and sometimes overly detailed yet mundane passages are not off-putting for them. I do sometimes find myself drawn into the story. That said, some narrators are better than others and some characters in the book can be insufferable to listen to!
ok, now that i have taken on this entire series in one great big kindle edition, I may worry less about song of ice and fire/running out of reading material any time soon. This also marks the beginning of my re-visiting YA literature which I am fairly sure will be a trend. Particularly series. I'm thinking the Little House books, the Madeleine L'engle books, Narnia, etc. etc. etc.
Basically, I want to read ALL THE THINGS!!!

I will never, ever stop loving the story of this one little girl.
i've read this entire set about three times now and it always brings a smile to my face.
I sort of liked books 1-3, but the fast talking, major imagination character of Anne was annoying at times. Book 4 should have been the climax book, and yet to me it felt like a different author wrote it. After all the detailed writing in books 1-3 I would of thought the major life changing event in book 4 would have been written with more emotion.
It seems that ALL the books go into great detail, except when a big thing happens, like a death or something, and then it is just touched on real quick and then the story picks up a few months after the event.
The rest of the series has interesting story lines to a degree, but I feel like I just want to get the books finished so I can move onto something else. Not a series I would recommend.

I adored the spirited Anne series and read the first couple of books a few times each; still, the deets didn't really stick with me (except from the excellent miniseries).
