It got better towards the end. Still a little slow and kinda cheesy. It was obviously gonna be a little cheesy, it’s a Christmas fantasy. But more than I expected.

Clio is especially Magic in a land of magical Christmas creatures. Someone is trying to hunt her and a reindeer shifter is trying to rescue her. I found the creatures and their powers super interesting. The story was a little slow and jumped around too much. A solid 3-star rating from me.

This is a great Christmas read. Exciting and engaging, with distinct elements taken from Christmas tradition, but completely reimagined. Fast-paced and creative.

I'm not a big fan of Christmas, but I enjoyed this book anyway. The Christmas connection isn't overly blatant (perhaps because it's set months before Christmas) even though the magic used by the Christmas beings peaks at Christmas for reasons that are never explained. It's this waxing and waning of magic force that keeps me from saying you could drop the Christmas association and simply call everyone magic. All in all, it's an enjoyable paranormal novel with good characters and a romantic arc that progresses in a slow, natural way.
