Good read, though I think that Pestilence might still be my favorite of the series. In this book, the relationship between Famine and Ana is a little more playful, and I'm really here for the bratty flirting and the chemistry between them. The horseman's journey here is a little less fleshed out (I thought that the change from hating humans to changing towards believing in saving them... was a bit sudden? But maybe that is because I've read all the books in one go.)

Enjoyable read, some spice (would say 2/5), the flirting is really enjoyable, and I also really liked the story here.

This is by far the slowest of burns. Don’t expect any kisses or spicy scenes until almost the end. However this couple has the best banter of the three so far. Pestilence is still my favorite but this book is a close second. The ending was not what I was expecting at all and I’m so excited to see what happens next!

Famine is the third book in The Four Horsemen of the apocalypse series by Laura Thalassa. The series follows the Four Horsemen of the apocalypse who come to Earth to wipe out humanity but end up falling for their female companions.
Famine has to be my second favorite horsemen. I really loved his book but not quite as much as I loved War's book. I thought that Famine was such an interesting character and I loved his companion, Ana.
First off, Laura Thalassa's writing when she is writing adult books is just fantastic. I really liked her writing in the Bargainer series but. something about her writing in the adult novels is just fantastic. It feels very emotionally charged and she writes tension so well.
I loved that Famine and Ana had already met by the beginning of this book. I think that really added such a special layer to their stories because Ana had shown Famine compassion before so we knew she could find it to love him again. I thought they were both fantastic characters together and on their own. My favorite thing was that Ana was a sex worker and while she was fine with not living that life anymore, it was never demonized. Laura Thalassa handled her story so well and I loved learning more about Ana. She was so snarky and sassy to Famine and ready to fight him at every turn, I loved it. I also loved Famine as a character. He was someone who was seriously mistreated before and is definitely the harshest and cruelest of the horsemen but he also had this vulnerability with Ana that I just adored.
I thought the plot was so good in this and I loved the setting being in Brazil. I love that these books are all set in different parts of the world and add to the story so much. I also loved the ending of this book because it was so different from the other ones. I am going to just gush here in a spoiler wrap as I have to talk about this ending.
<spoilerI loved that the ending of this, we got to see Famine and Thanatos or Death meet each other. I loved that Famine was given a choice and we got to see just how cruel Death is going to be in his next book. When Famine mentioned that he and Ana were going to get Pestilence and War, I was so excited and it made me so hyped for the next book.
Overall, if you are looking for a romance series where the villain gets the girl, read this. I love this series and can see it being one of my favorite series of all time.

first things first: this book is for sure the best of the series - i don't think it can get any better from here on! i fell in love with ana in the very first chapter, she's such a strong and badass woman who's endured a lot and come even farther. i fell for famine soon after. he's an amazingly crafted character and he just makes so much sense to me, everything he does and why he does it, how and why he falls in love with ana - it's incredibly beautiful. again, this one is a slow-burn but when they finally admitted (or halfway admitted) their feelings for each other, it felt absolutely right and the spice was exquisite and also more prominent than in the preceding books of the series. i also really appreciated that the author finally chose a different ending for this couple; however, the ending left me frustrated, raging and breathless. it did make some sort of sense to me, but it felt more unfair than anything else. i just don't know why death, now of all times, had to be such a big big asshole and i hate him all the more for it. of course, the ending also clearly indicates how the fourth and last book is going to begin. the last sentence left me speechless and giddy with excitement on what to expect. all in all, except for the ending and the fact that in the last chapter before it famine didn't really give me the famine vibes anymore, i loved this book with all my heart. best of the series, famine and ana are my fav characters so far and I'd definitely recommend reading it!

A much better entry than Pestilence and War but still just an ok read.

I enjoyed Famine & Ana - like other reviews have mentioned, it was actually quite funny considering the setting. They have good love/hate interactions, which broke up the monotony of the same recycled story of 'oh-he's-a-bad-evil-person-but-he's-so-darn-sexy-that-maybe-I'll-overlook-the-mass-murder-and-stuff' thing.

The ending was quite something, so I'm looking forward to the big reunion.

Completely different plot and character journey from the first two. I’m so excited for the final installment!
