These characters have been around for 16 other books, written by many other authors, yet it seems like Baldacci didn't read them at all. Most of the characters do not act like themselves. I agree with most of the other reviewers who gave this low marks. Terrible end to this part of the series.

And I know you have to suspend reality to read this series, but at one point hostages are in a truck and they travel 1300 miles without stopping!

Pretty intense, but a solid end to the series, since they just ended total world distruction and all. I do think that the Cahills v. Vespers is darker than the first series, so I recommend to slightly older readers (mature 4th graders is about as low as I've gone).

I am terribly disappointed in this book. The writing was horrific and was nowhere near the quality of every book that preceded it. The characterization was so awful that it was like I was reading about totally new and different characters, which meant that by the end of the book, I didn't feel anything for the characters that died. Also if I have to read the phrase 'paying dividends' ever again, I think I might scream. The dialogue was unrealistic and the narration in general was condescending and at times, frankly, insulting. I loved this series from the beginning and had always been impressed by it but this book is a black mark on the entire story. What's worse is that this is the last book. I don't know how else to convey my disappointment and anger about this book other than to suggest you don't even read it and pretend the previous book was the last.

A satisfying conclusion the Cahills vs. Vespers series. I did notice that the series is getting progressively more violent...similar to Harry Potter maybe - readers growing up with it. As far as characters I found that Amy has changed the most through the 2 series - maybe too much, is a bit unbelievable. Still the students who really like the series and have stuck with it will enjoy the book.

 What an ending!

Final book couldn't have ended on a more dramatic tone. Racing to save the world from disaster and collapse of the planet, Cahills once again find themselves in the centre of the world unfolding.

This was full of suspense, from the beginning to the end of the book. Couldn't have imagined a better end to the whole thing.
