I think this was my favourite of the three books in this series. Seamus' interactions with Neri kept making me laugh - he was great at putting his foot in his mouth, especially because he was freaked out about having a fated mate.
I liked how the relationship evolved, both of them fighting the attraction, though you could see they belonged together.
The only thing I wasn't a fan of, was the addition of chapters that weren't from the main two characters' points of view.
An enjoyable book and series!

I was promised angst and all I got was "Oh no you saved me! This means you're my mate and I hate your species."

Racist much???

DNF, 2/5 stars.

Also, I probably couldn't finish this book because there's a person in my Calculus class with the name Seamus and I couldn't help but think of him while reading this.

i’ve been looking for the download for this book months ago and when i’m looking for the authors new book all a sudden i find it like the world hates me fr. but i read it bc i’m in a slump and it’s just what i need a short cutesies little fantasy romance like fantasy is good when the word building and magic system is self explanatory or explained along the way fr like i dont have the best knowledge of it it’s probably better explained in the first book and i skipped to the second one but it’s still comprehensible like i understand what’s going on and all that. i just love books where the main characters are also book lovers bc i can be like same were so similar fr. this had a cute little enemies to lovers very small enemies to lovers tho w why they don’t like each other bc the main guy doesn’t know how to talk around people that’s the real problem but he makes up for it at the end bc he’s so sweet and considerate pls he entered this competition for the main girl and actually won it to show that he would face any challenge for her and then he left for a week just so he could go to a book store and read a bunch of romance novels to give her the treatment she deserves in these novels bc he made judged her at first seeing her read romance and now he’s like i take that back there’s sm more to it than fluff it’s sweet. but the beginning yikes like his character is awkward but endearing i liked his character a lot but just every time he opens his mouth like his brain and mouth don’t connect and he says a bunch of rude shit not meaning to but also how did you get there yk. i mean i get the reason why he first snapped at the main girl bc of the fated mates thing from saving one from an accident ruining one of his friends life but he’s not her and he knows that fates don’t control him and shit but eh i’ll excuse him ig. the main girl i love like every time the main guy messes up she makes him work for it as she should fr like she got a backbone and i enjoyed reading her own situation w moving into this mythic safe area where she doesn’t have to hide her true nature like she did at home w family. the adjustment was connected w her relationship bc she wants to find somewhere to belong and all that but she thinks that things shouldn’t be easy if she wants something which is why the argument her and main guy had before the competition was her being upset that he called them being together simple and easy bc she feels like he wouldn’t fight for her but then her cousin offers her something she wants and she gets upset that choosing to make this decision is easy and makes her feel like she’s back w her parents but her cousin is like it doesn’t matter as long as ur decision is making u happy and shit and that got her realizing that she does wanna be w main guy. little too late tho bc he entered the comp for her #truelove fr. but it’s a lot of cute fluff in here i enjoy the dynamic of the main couple like they don’t always gotta be talking to each other their company is enough to comfort them which is why he invites her to his library so she reads while he grades and shit like that he’s a professor btw it fits his personality a lot fr. something about a man who’s lowkey submissive and a more dominating female lead just gets me like it’s reparations fr. but the author sets up the next book good bc now i wanna read it as she added a chapter w the main guy’s sister and her little enemies to lovers tension w this other guy in the comp and i was like bro their chemistry is so good i’m reading it next like yk me i’m a big enemies to lovers girly. yeah just something about this author book always hit for me fr i really enjoyed the fantasy aspect of the book and the lore that comes with it like the origin of the lake and then the songcaster or whatever girly idk i just like little fantasy history it gets me hooked fr. but yeah cutesies book i really enjoyed it i’ll give it a 8.5/10.
