Very sweet book!! There was more depth to the story than I expected and I enjoyed the themes of motherhood and relationships among women that Sarah Dessen explored!

Entering my reviews over from my old Goodreads profile I unearthed recently...here are some super sappy thoughts from 2009-era 14-year-old Claire!

I loved this book. Quite frankly, all of Sarah Dessen's books are formulaic and predictable. But why fix what isn't broken? She writes it well.

This is probably one of my favorites of hers actually.

It was kind of boring at the beginning, but it was a cute book that was worth reading!

I thought there was going to be more romance considering it’s a romance book, but I still enjoyed it. 3.5 stars

I’m not going to lie. This book has PLENTY of issues. But I was really surprised to found that despite that... I still enjoyed it a lot. The main character is interesting, and she grows to understand that her girl hate is stupid. The romance is cute but not actually overpowering. And the whole family discussion was super interesting. I loved the development of her friend groups and family relationships. Overall, I’m super pleasantly surprised by my first Sarah Dessen book!

I will admit, I am not the target audience.

Personally, I think the book would have made a bigger impact if I read it the summer after high school but then again, it gives very cliche vibes for me.

Every time I pick up a Sarah Dessen book I expect it to be a lot fluffier than it really is. Somehow her writing manages to be light and meaty at the same time. And even though Dessen does, in fact, kind of recycle the same basic forumla in each of her book she does it so darn well that I don't really mind.

In this particular novel, I really enjoyed the theme of second chaces. Well done.

This is my second Sarah Dessen book; and it was a quick and pleasant read like the first. To me nothing made it super interesting to the Wow Factor, but it had that laid-back everyday romantic book feel. Unfortunately, I'm kind of getting tired of that. Maybe i should take a break from romantic books because they are starting to all have the same plot.

Basics of a YACR Book
1) A girl that has little to no friends is the main character.
2) A gorgeous guy that everyone loves takes an interest in the loner main character.
3) The main character is reluctant at first but guy and her share cute moments together.
4) A misunderstanding splits the happy couple apart. Most the time it is because of another person in the picture and then the girl/guy over thinks it.
5) One of them has the sense to explain the whole thing and all is well.

That is in general though, this book had tweaks that I enjoyed. I liked the whole bike thing going around. It was different then the usual football/A+ guy. We aren't introduced to Eli until Auden made out with his brother! that was a shock to me. That is one of my problems with this book though, a problem would pop up and then it is later just dropped. Like the brother and ex-girlfriend. OH! and my favorite part of the book was that fact that it takes place in the same area as [b:Lock and Key|5973910|Lock and Key|Sarah Dessen|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1348239218s/5973910.jpg|1284222] The U, she has a UME.com account, she had a crush on Nate! I really liked that even though the books aren't a series, references still pop up here and there. Does every Sarah Dessen books do this? cause this is only my 2nd one. and if so which ones? K THANKS, BYE!
