How, and why, psychiatry is over medicating the United States.

An interesting, almost investigative work as to the fall of psychotherapy and the rise of psychiatry as our nation's preferred way of 'dealing' with, not 'treating' mental health issues.

The book offers great insight in to the development and proliferation of some of today's most common and recognizable psychoactive drugs. It additionally presents, and explores a number of modern, non-prescription treatments for mental disorders that are often overlooked in the race to generate profits by flipping through patients like cards. . . not to mention those generated from prescribing and supporting the products of big drug companies. . .

Wonderfully interesting book!

Very good. As a medical professional, I am always administrating anti-depressants or calling in prescriptions for them or teaching patients about them-- all the while thinking they are completely ridiculous and overused. Barber makes a very fair and well-researched case against the whole industry of psychiatric medications. READ THIS BOOK!!!

An excellent look at how mental health has changed in just a few years and whether or not it's a good thing.
