This book is mostly dialogue and set up for the next book in my opinion. Very conversation heavy. Definitely a weaker one in this series but I still enjoyed.

Ik ga er heel erg kort over zijn: No Sir, I Didn't Like It.

Verdorie.

I agree with Watts that this last book shouldn't have been split into two parts, because the ending didn't seem organic and the Achilles plotline seemed superfluous. But still-- love for the characters and the return to the underwater setting.

This is the first half of the third book in the Rifters trilogy. Peter Watts' style isn't for everyone ... it's sparse and really pretty dark ... but I really enjoy his books. He has a fairly bleak vision of the future, and his characters aren't what you would typically consider likeable, but I think that's what draws me to his novels. No candy coating here.
