With a potential murder to investigate & a cop under investigation for corruption, this sounded like it would be really good. Unfortunately...it was not. Some of my issues may have come from listening to the audiobook & not eyeball reading it. With that being said:
It started off rough from the beginning. I know that since this was the first book in the series everyone had to be introduced, but there were just so many people. Between the main officers, those investigating the FMC, & all of the people involved in the crime side of the story, I had a really hard time keeping it straight. It didn't help that there never seemed to be a clear POV. Third person is tricky in general, but the author seemed to switch POVs more than I blinked while reading this. It wasn't broken up into sections; at times, it seemed like the POV would switch a couple times during one or two sentences. I had a hard time following who we were supposed to be reading as.
You would think that with a book that claims to be full of twists (there was barely one), it would be fast-paced & action packed. It was not. I was so bored through most of this & just couldn't wait until it was done. I didn't care about any of the characters, & the crime was not interesting. It was just all dragged out too much.

The most bizarre pronunciation of "lethargy" I've ever heard, and it happened twice not close together
I didn't solve the mystery and I'm glad it turned out to be character-driven, not just a drugs hit.
