I really love this world found in The Book of Kindly Deaths and was happy to return. The stories are short but very vibrant and enthralling and I look forward for what's to come!

It's certainly isn't a bad short story, but several of the stories in The Book of Kindly Deaths were scarier than this one. The first half with the pumpkin men and the journey across the lake was great, it just lost steam towards the end. Worth a read if you, like me, are desperately awaiting a sequel to the original Book of Kindly Deaths, or you'd like a gentler Halloween read.
