Every time that I have read this book I have picked up on even more things, especially after going through more of King's works. During my first reread, it was Callahan's story. Now, it's no secret that Callahan is my favorite character in the multiverse. His arc of a man struggling with his faith and eventually gaining it back by becoming what he used to be right before his death in Dark Tower VII. This time it was Ben's story about Miranda. I completely forgot about her when I read this book, a lot of his arc was about accepting his wife's death and how it wasn't his fault. Also, I didn't realize how horrifically brutal a few of the deaths were. Mark's parents have their skulls smashed together, Jimmy gets devoured by vampires, and Mike Ryerson gets attacked by Danny Glick's corpse. King was originally going to write a sequel to this book, but aside from the Tower books, King's not too good at sequels and I'm kinda glad that it didn't happen because I didn't want it to ruin the magic of the original book.
