An interesting premise, and I liked the characters of the hellsehers and thought they were interesting. There was a lot of lore and world-building, which I think has made the book quite long. I haven’t really connected with the FMC, or the MMC, but I did enjoy the flirting/banter between them. Liked the roster of side characters. Thought the plot was a bit complicated, but will read the second.

Although I really enjoyed this book, I found that it was a little long and that it seemed like it was drawing too much inspiration from [a:Sarah J. Maas|3433047|Sarah J. I did appreciate the lore in this book, as well as the magic system that was going on. The spice was also very good, in my opinion.

3/5.

I went into this book because I’ve been hearing that I will fall in love with Darrien Cassel and I absolutely did! He was everything I wanted in a MMC he was strong, caring, protective, and would do anything for Loren. Loren was both strong and determined while keeping an optimism and innocence despite everything she was going through.

When Darien takes on the job of tracking down Loren he has no idea he’s been tasked with finding a human, now instead of turning her in he’s vowed to protect her but why would the so many people be after a human, what is so special about Loren?

The relationship between Darien and Loren was the main drive for me in this book but the story was fascinating. There is a unique magic system in a modern urban setting, this book had the feel of a mystery while all the elements of fantasy I love.

i liked the plot and the setting, i REALLY liked the ending. it definitely felt like high stakes and i liked that Darien died and she was able to come into her powers and fix everything

i couldn’t buy into Darien and Loren’s relationship - Loren actually annoyed me so much like she was so quick to get upset and try to leave which would put all the devils in danger ?? i felt like she acted selfishly most of the time. also why did she not care about Dallas when the world ended
